Still like trains

Mom had a day of lecture

So she made Turing his hat/scarf from the yarn he picked out. Fortunately, they should still fit next winter.

Equinox

We saw the egg kit at the craft store. We did some eggs. Woo.

Reward

Turing peed on the potty 10 times so we went to celebrate by riding the train. He was a little skeptical of the entire "10 stickers equals a train ride" chart, but now seems to believe in it. We just have to ratchet back the prizes so we don't spend every weekend driving to the Dells. Next up, a new Thomas engine for 12 potty successes.

Despite (or because of) starting late, he's been very good at the potty. He wears a diaper to sleep, but is in underpants all of the day and has been dry for over a week. If he doesn't want to use the potty, he asks for a diaper. Fair enough at this point. Running around in underpants has officially changed his silhouette to a big kid. Ack.

He's doing all kinds of other big kid stuff, too. We're slowly working on reading with the same book Mom learned out of and it has been pretty amazing to watch the various pieces click into place so fast. He's showing some interest in playing piano, but doesn't have the fine motor control or big enough hands for it. He's making stories up. He knows what day it is on the calendar. He love to glue stuff to paper. He likes to help in the kitchen. And trains, he still loves trains.

Not dead

Just too busy to be posting. The weather got nice for a few weeks and we used it well.

Yellow rice

I finally cooked a little last week. One thing was fried rice with egg (known as "yellow rice" in this household). It has easily been 3 months since I made it. I told Turing we were going to make it and he promptly went and pulled the wok out of the cabinet. Huh.

And then he made an attempt at writing his name this weekend. Pictures to follow.

And we've graduated to occasionally wearing underpants around the house. And peeing on the floor. But we've taken the step to wearing them without a fight, so, first battle won.
